Markah adalah sebahagian daripada budaya dalam pendidikan. Ia telah menjadi asas kepada beberapa tindakan dan keputusan di institusi pendidikan, dan juga antara institusi pendidikan . Oleh itu, pelajar menyedari dari awal lagi bahawa mereka akan diberi gred atau markah bergantung kepada prestasi mereka di sekolah.
Pendidik juga dipengaruhi oleh markah, biasanya untuk mengagihkan pelajar kepada kelas yang leibh pandai atau sebaliknya. Oleh sebab markah sangat penting bagi kebanyakan orang, maka kita perlu berhati-hati dan bersifat objektif semasa memberi markah. Malangnya, kadang kala tidak sedemikian. Ada kalanya markah diberi secara terburu-buru dan sistem pemarkahan, jika ada, tidak begitu difahami. Perlu diingat bahawa sistem yang berlainan mempunyai kebaikan dan kelemahan yang berbeza juga.
Kesimpulanya, kaedah rubrik adalah merupakan salah satu kaedah yang dapat membantu guru memberi markah dengan teliti dan bijaksana. Walaubagaimanapun, guru perlu berwaspada di dalam menghasilkan rubrik agar perkara yang dinilai adalah bertepatan dan tidak akan dipersoalkan oleh mana-mana pihak...renung2kan, dan selamat beramal...
